Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, made news earlier this week when he disclosed that his controversial website could be forced to shut down by the year's end due to a major decline in the donations on which WikiLeaks depends.
The New York Times reported Monday that a sign of WikiLeaks' troubled financial state appeared last month "when a collection of memorabilia associated with Mr. Assange was put up for sale (on eBay) to raise money for WikiLeaks." One of the items listed for sale was a small bag of coffee that he smuggled out of Wandsworth prison in Britain, where he was held briefly last year.
